Rural Sewage Treatment
With the rapid development of China's economy and society, sanitary facilities, washing machines, and bathing equipment have become common in rural households. The per capita daily water consumption and domestic sewage discharge in rural areas have increased sharply, generating a large amount of domestic sewage. However, the rural population is dispersed and large in number, with no collection and treatment facilities for domestic sewage. This makes rural domestic pollution a significant factor affecting the water environment, especially in water source areas and reservoirs, where it has a non-negligible impact on water quality. Moreover, it directly harms the health of farmers and can easily lead to the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases.
1. Water Quality Characteristics:
① Sewage distribution is scattered, covering a wide range with strong randomness, making prevention and control difficult. The pipe network collection system is underdeveloped, with extensive discharge and virtually no sewage treatment facilities.
② The concentration of rural domestic sewage is low and varies significantly.
③ Most rural domestic sewage has similar properties, with large water quality fluctuations and strong biodegradability.
④ The discharged sewage quality is poor but can be used as fertilizer after entering septic tanks.
2. Water Quantity Characteristics:
① The volume of domestic sewage in rural areas is generally small. Except for small towns, the rural population is dispersed, resulting in relatively low water consumption and small volumes of domestic sewage.
② The variation coefficient is large. Similar living patterns among residents lead to higher sewage discharge in the morning and evening compared to daytime, with minimal or even interrupted discharge at night, showing significant water quantity fluctuations.
